Going on a Road Trip?

The road trip is a uniquely American tradition and on the minds of many vacationers this summer.  Travel is a little different this year so be prepared before you leave home.

Here are a few tips on navigating the open road this summer.

States and cities across the US are re-opening with varying levels of protective measures and restrictions. When planning your trip, research the status and travel friendliness of your route and destinations.

Check out the CDC’s Covid Data website as well as state and city health department websites.

Contact the businesses and venues on your itinerary.  Hotels, restaurants, parks, beaches and other attractions all have different guidelines to follow or may not be open at all.

Some cities and states have masking and testing requirements, restrictions on entry, quarantine requirements, and it could be difficult to leave if you are exposed or test positive.

Many restaurants and other businesses have moved their operations outdoors and America is full of beautiful outdoor venues and activities. Whether it’s dining alfresco, whitewater rafting or a walkable shopping district, being outside can be a stress reliever in itself while eliminating many other precautions and concerns.  The possibilities are endless.  Step out of your comfort zone a little and experience something new.

While traveling continue to check the local news for updates on conditions.

Hopefully some of these tips will help ensure a safe and enjoyable vacation.
